High Intensity Impact Training

The H.I.I.T. Program taught at Bay Mountain Martial Arts is a mixed martial arts class and the first program to complete for any new martial artist.

H.I.I.T. stands for High Intensity Impact Training. The H.I.I.T. Class consists of a variety of offensive, defensive, strength and conditioning training. Students learn a variety of effective hand strikes, kicks, knees and elbows. We also include take-downs, grappling and weapons training.

Knowing that when a self defense situation arises, there were probably many tell tale signs prior to punches being thrown, signals that preceded the physical conflict, we also educate our students on conflict avoidance and resolution. We call this winning the fight without fighting. If a physical conflict should still arise, we will have armed the student with potent physical skills as well.

In addition to the strength, flexibility and conditioning training, the curriculum for the H.I.I.T. Class consists mainly of three things. First, we teach only one form in this system. The form contains only useful information, and has all of the initial physical skills a student will need. Unlike other programs in other systems, the form is not done to “keep students busy” but rather to give them the necessary tools that will be used in the second and third part of the H.I.I.T. Training. Second, Impact Training on targets such as focus mitts and target shields to develop strength, accuracy and power. The third part is partner interaction, limited sparring and free sparring. As a student’s skills develop, they will begin to apply them in a limited to free fashion with other students. First students will only be working on limited sparring drills to focus on specific elements of their technique. Later students will free spar with the goal of freely applying skills that they have learned on another student of equal or greater level.

The goal of the H.I.I.T. Program is to give all of the Bay Mountain Martial Arts Students a strong foundation of physical ability, material and skill, and it is intended to be a segue to the more advanced forms of training that we offer which are Wing Tsun and Latosa Escrima.

H.I.I.T. is a mixed form, based from Martial Arts that emphasizes self-defence and fitness.
